Hypertexing In Teens Leads To Drugs,Sex And Drinking.

Student texting during class

Finally, proof that "hypertexters" are social deviants.
We all know people who spend way too much time texting. But a new study reveals they could be up to so much more -- teenagers who send massive amounts of text messages are more likely to drink alcohol, have sex and do drugs.

The new study focused on teenagers who researchers classified as "hypertexters," meaning they send more than 3,600 text messages a month. That's 120 texts per day, 12 every hour, or one every five minutes.

4,200 students defined as "hypertexters" were surveyed, and researchers discovered they were three times more likely to have sex than teens who didn't text as much. They were also more likely to engage in risky behavior, like drug use, binge drinking and getting into fights.
