THE RACE FOR MISS BLACK AFRICA 2011 BEGINS

The search has begun for the first Miss Black Africa UK.  The organisers have said that the competition is open to females from Sub Saharan Africa which is made up of East,West,Southern and Central Africa.  When asked what kind of lady would be the perfect Miss Black Africa, the spokesman Dele Onabowu replied "We are looking for a lady that will be committed to using her position and influence to better the lives of others, promote awareness to the plight of the less privileged, be prepared to contribute to the development of her community and most of all be a great ambassador and role model to young Africans in the UK". 

The pageant aims to give young African girls born or living in the United Kingdom a platform to showcase not only their beauty but most importantly their culture, talent and creativity. The pageant is highly competitive and seeks to bring out those leadership qualities in women. The winner will also become a goodwill ambassador for a UK based non profit organisation.

Contestants will need to meet the following requirements:
 1.      Be physically fit and between 18 and 35 years of age.
2.      Be a citizen of an African country or be of African origin.
3.      Speak at least one of the following languages: English, French, Portuguese.
4.      Hold a passport with a valid visa covering the time of the event.
5.      Reside in the UK during the period of the event.
6.      Fulfil registration formalities before the registration deadline.
Competition Categories
  • Swim wear: elegance and grace
  • Evening Attire: carriage, composure, dignity and presence in evening wear
  • African Attire: originality, creativity, style, presence, grace
  • Talent: Presentation, performance, entertainment, creativity and artistic skill in talent
  • On-stage Interview: Knowledge, intelligence, eloquence, poise, and charisma and sophistication in interview
