Nigeria And British Government Honour Board Members of NGO






Mrs Carolyn Hall and Mr Eric Aworabhi, two board members of an NGO, Pro- Natura International Nigeria, have been honoured by Nigerian and British governments.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Pro-Natura International Nigeria, is an indigenous community development organisation founded in 1997 to reduce poverty by increasing institutional capacities for sustainable development.A statement issued by the organisation and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Eket on Sunday, stated that Hall and Aworabhi were recognised for their hardwork, commitment and contributions to Nigeria's development.The statement said Hall was also awarded an Order of British Empire.It said that Hall, who began her career as a teacher at the UPE College in Zaria, made the Queen of England's Birthday Honours List for 2012.
The statement said Hall established and ran the Maiduguri International Primary School Education Trust which "became the most successful primary school in Northern Nigeria.""As an Environmental Education Officer, Hall was actively involved in the integration of Environmental Education into the national schools' curriculum," the statement said.The NGO said Hall was responsible for the organisation of National Conservation Fund National Arts and Essay competition as well as the establishment of Environment Education units in some tertiary institutions."More recently, she has been actively involved with Laptops 4 Learning (L4L) Nigeria.
"This is a non-profit, social enterprise with the aim of providing screen-based technology to Nigerian teachers and children as a learning tool," the statement said.The statement said President Goodluck Jonathan appointed Mr Eric Aworabhi, Nigeria's Ambassador to Italy.
It said that Aworabhi's appointment was in recognition of his meritorious years of service as a public servant and his contributions to Public Service.
