Nigerians Urge President Jonathan To Disclose Nature Of His Wife's Ailment [isn't that a private affair?]

Nigerians on Friday called on President Goodluck Jonathan to disclose the nature of his wife, Patience’s, sickness.
Worried by the continued absence of the First Lady who had been reportedly hospitalised in a German hospital over a month ago, civil society organisations (CSO) and concerned Nigerians have warned that the continued silence of the Presidency on the matter is a slap on the citizenry.
On Thursday an online publication, Sahara Reporters
claimed that the First Lady is battling with Parkinson disease.
The disease according to a medical expert is a progressive disorder of the nervous system characterized by progressive loss of muscle control, which leads to trembling of the limbs and head while at rest, stiffness, slowness, and impaired balance. As the symptom worsen, it may become difficult to walk, talk, and complete simple tasks.”
In separate interviews, the former Governor of Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, and National Publicity Secretary of Save Nigeria Group (SNG), Yinka Odumanki, accused the president of undue hypocrisy on the development.
Musa averred that the president has no choice than to let Nigerians know the nature of of his wife’s sickness.
“He should be told in clear teams that the same fate that befell late President Musa Yar’Adua is now telling on him. He has no right to keep to himself what is happening to the woman. He cannot hide it from Nigerians because they are spending tax payers’ money on her as the First Lady.
“But this is the height of hypocrisy from Jonathan; what he accused Yar’Adua’s family of hiding from him and Nigerians is what he is doing now. He is now hiding his wife from the same Nigerians. Certainly, the president must let the people know what the health challenge of the woman is because I believe he knows. This cannot happen in the advance world. Enough of this deceit, Nigerians deserve to be told the truth. Time is running out on the president on this matter and unfortunately, the party he belongs to won’t tell him the truth,” Musa said.
As far as Odumakin is concerned, Jonathan owes Nigerians the duty of telling them what is happening to his wife.
“It is not good to rely on rumours. It is binding on Jonathan to tell Nigerians where his wife is. The president should come out and tell us what is happening to his wife. It is unfortunate that between Yar’Adua and Jonathan, there is no difference. Nigerians demand to know the true situation of things. Nigerians should ask Jonathan to come out and speak on the situation of his wife’s health and stop being hypocrite,” he said.
In the same vein, radical lawyer and rights activist, Festus Keyamo, also flayed the presidency for keeping mute over Patience’s sickness, insisting that Nigerians have the right to know her condition.
He said the First Lady is a wife of a public officer and given the fact that tax payer’s money is being used for her treatment, the people must know her health condition. “What is happening concerning the silence about the health condition of the wife of the President, Patience Jonathan, is wrong. It is sad that this sort of abnormality can be happening at this period of our development. Nigerians must know the health condition of the wife of their president. President Goodluck Jonathan is a public servant and the money for the treatment of the wife is the public money so we should know what is happening to her.
“What is happening now is exactly what played out during the health condition of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and even President Jonathan then condemned what happened, so why is he not doing the right thing now. There is no argument about it, Nigerians must know what is wrong with the president’s wife.
