Still On- Here Is An Opportunity To Win $25,000 By Writing A Short Film For Afrinolly Shortfilm Competition.





Afrinolly Shortfilm Competition is designed to motivate and reward participants who are skilled in the art of shooting short movies and documentary conducted by FansConnectOnline Ltd., on Behalf of itself and in partnership with MTN, Google+, Blackberry, iRepresent International Documentary Film Festival and Goethe Institut.
NO PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS COMPETITION.
This Competition is open to anyone who, as of January 1, 2012 is 18 years or older (or the applicable age of majority in his/her country of residence, but in any event no less than 18 years of age) and a registered user of the YouTube website. See section 3 for complete ELIGIBILITY details.
The winners will be awarded in Lagos, Nigeria in conjunction with the partners. The Top 10 finalists will be rewarded as defined in section 12 below.
  1. COMPETITION ENTITIES
    The Competition is being undertaken by FansConnectOnline Limited located in Lagos, Nigeria, on behalf of itself and its subsidiary ("Afrinolly").
  2. COMPETITION TIMELINE
    All Entries must be submitted before the end of the Submission Period. The Open Call for Entries began November 1, 2012 at 12:00:00 AM GMT+1 (Greenwich Mean Time plus 1hour) and ends on January 31, 2013 at 11:59:59 PM GMT+1. The YouTube Website computer runs the official clock for the Competition and will solely determine the time by which an Entry (as defined in Section 4 below) is received.

    Competition Entities' selection of potential Finalists videos will start February 1, 2013 and end February 8, 2013. Potential Finalists notification and eligibility confirmation will start February 9, 2013 and end February 10, 2013.

    The Public Voting Period starts at 12:01:00 AM GMT+1 on February 11, 2013 and ends at 11:59:59 PM on March 24, 2013. Winners will be published on March 6, 2013.

    ENTRANTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING THE CORRESPONDING TIME ZONE IN THEIR RESPECTIVE JURISDICTIONS.
  3. ELIGIBILITY
    Participation in this Competition is open to individuals who are, as of January 1, 2012, at least 18 years of age, resident in an African Country or Africans resident in any part of the world and are registered users of the Google+ website located at http://www.plus.google.com. There is no fee or charge to become a Registered User. The Competition Entities reserve the right to verify an individual's eligibility to participate in the Competition.

    The Competition is not open to Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives and their immediate family members (which means parents, spouses, life partners, children, siblings, in-laws, grandparents and grandchildren and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) or residents in the same household (whether legally related or not) of the Competition Entities and their respective parent, affiliated and subsidiary companies, advertising and promotion agencies, legal and financial advisors, any and all other companies associated with this Competition (including any other institutions or individuals listed on the Competition Website which are involved in judging, as well as their immediate family members), are not eligible to enter or otherwise participate in this Competition.
  4. HOW TO ENTER THE COMPETITION
    Individuals or organizations who wish to enter the Competition (each, an "Entrant") must create and submit a video of no more than Fifteen (15) minutes' duration which celebrates the power of African storytelling, with a focus on creativity and narrative ("Entry"). At the time of entry, Entrants must also select their nationality within Africa. Entries may be submitted at any time during the Open Call for Entries (see Section 2 above). There is no limit to the number of Entries an Entrant may submit, but each Entry must follow the technical, creative, and legal entry requirements set out in this Official Rules, as well as any additional requirements as may be set forth on the Competition's Website located at 
    www.afrinollyshortfilmcompetition.com (the "Competition Website"), which are incorporated herein by reference.
  5. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
    a. Submit an original video which celebrates the power of African storytelling with a focus on creativity and narrative.

    b. Running time for each video: Maximum Fifteen (15) minutes, including any titles and/or credits. Entries longer than Fifteen (15) minutes will be disqualified.

    c. The Competition is open solely to original, newly-created Entries, or original, previously-created Entries which have not been distributed to the public (including, without limitation, display on the YouTube Website, posting elsewhere on the internet, theatrical distribution, television broadcast or any other public dissemination) prior to January 1, 2012.

    d. All rights in and to the Entries, including but not limited to any third party trademarks and logos, names, likenesses, and musical material as may be contained therein (collectively, "Third Party Elements"), must be cleared through December 31, 2013 at a minimum, for non-exclusive worldwide online/internet use (inclusive of internet television and online/internet access via televisions, mobile devices and/or any other devices capable of accessing the internet) as well as in-flight and film festival exploitation by the Competition Entities. Any Entries for which such rights have not been cleared through such date are subject to disqualification. At the Competition Entities' discretion, Potential finalists may be required to show proof of clearance of any and all Third Party Elements prior to designation as a finalist.

    e. Entries may be submitted in one of the following languages: English, French, Swahili.

    f. If an Entry is in a language other than English, Entrant must provide complete English subtitles for any and all dialogue and pertinent textual material (i.e., material which a viewer would generally need to understand in order to follow the storyline) contained in their Entry.

  6. ENTRY TERMS
    By entering, regardless of country of entry, each Entrant represents and warrants that he or she is the director of the Entry and has obtained all of the rights, licenses, and permissions in writing from any person appearing in, or whose material is featured in, the Entry (or from the relevant person's parent/legal guardian if any such person(s) is considered a minor in his/her country of residence); and that his/her Entry conforms to these Official Rules, the requirements of the Competition Channel, and

    1. is not subject to any third party agreement(s), and no third party consents and/or licenses are required in connection with such Entry's use hereunder, and that the Competition Entities will not be required to pay or incur any sums to any person or entity, including without limitation, any copyright collecting societies or holders of copyrights, performers' rights, neighboring rights, or moral rights, or persons representing such, and any person acting on their behalf as a result of its use or exploitation of the idea or video or rights therein;

    2. has not been filmed in any location(s) requiring permits from local authorities and/or other applicable entities unless such permissions have been obtained;

    3. does not defame, misrepresent, or contain disparaging remarks or any other content which could adversely affect the name, reputation or goodwill of the Released Parties or any other individuals and/or entities;

    4. does not contain pornographic or graphic sexual content, hateful content of any kind (including racism, sexism, etc.), content which intentionally incites violence or harm to another living creature, or any other knowingly offensive, obscene or inappropriate content;

    5. does not intentionally promote or incite intimidation, harassment, or bullying of any individuals or groups of individuals;

    6. does not violate any applicable local, state, national or international law or include any content that would encourage or provide instructions for a criminal offense; and

    7. has not been and is not the subject of any claim or legal proceedings of any kind and does not contain any material (whether literary, dramatic, artistic, musical or otherwise) which has been or is the subject of any claim or legal proceedings of any kind.

    8. does not contain any concepts, ideas, musical compositions, sound recordings, audio-visual works or other creative elements or intellectual property of a third party or contain any use of the names, likenesses, photographs, or other identifying elements, in whole or in part, of any other person, living, or dead, without written permission. If the Entry contains any material or elements that are not owned by the Entrant, Entrant is responsible for obtaining any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the use and exhibition of the Entry by the Competition Entities in the manner set forth in these Official Rules.

    If the Competition Entities determine in their sole discretion that an Entrant has materially breached a representation or warranty at any time during the Competition, then the Entry will be disqualified. The Competition Entities reserve the right to review all Entries received during the Open Call for Entries and will only post Entries on the Competition Channel that conform to these Official Rules, as determined by the Competition Entities in their sole discretion ("Eligible Entries"). Entries that do not comply with these Official Rules as determined by Competition Entities, in their sole discretion, will be disqualified from the Competition and will not appear on the Competition Website.


    6a . 
    Technical Limitation of Liability
    Competition Entities nor any of their respective parents, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, legal and financial advisors, any and all companies associated with this Competition are not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry of information, human error, technical malfunction, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failure of any telephone, computer or other network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof, inability to access the Competition Website or the YouTube Website, for problems uploading any Entries or downloading any Competition-related materials from the the Competition Website, or for late, lost, stolen, damaged, misdirected, incorrect, garbled, delayed, undelivered or incomplete Entries, or other materials, except to the extent resulting from the negligence of a Released Party. For purposes of these Official Rules, receipt of Entry occurs when the YouTube Website's servers successfully receive the uploaded video file and record the required Entry information. Any Entry/Entrant information collected during the Competition shall be used only in a manner consistent with the consent given by Entrants, at the time of entry, with these Official Rules (specifically including YouTube's Privacy Policies referred to above).

  7. JUDGING
    Entries will be sorted by Short Movie and Documentary. All Entries received during the Open Call for Entries will be reviewed by the Competition Entity (or its designee, which may include the Competition Administrator) to determine eligibility based on the Entry Requirements, as well as to initially identify top-scoring Entries based on the following, equally-weighted criteria (collectively, the "Criteria"):

    Judging criteria for Short Movie
    1. Storytelling
    2. Creativity and Originality
    3. Screenplay and Actor(s) Performances
    4. Technical Execution: Camera/Sound/Lighting/Editing
    5. Overall Impression

    Judging criteria for Documentary
    1. Choice of subject and relevance to today's issues
    2. Creativity and Originality
    3. Purpose, and Focus on the topic
    4. Strength and diversity of research and sources
    5. Technical Execution: Camera/Sound/Lighting/Editing/Transitions

    The highest-scoring Eligible 30 Entries in each category will then be further reviewed and evaluated by a judging panel engaged by Competition Entities ("Judging Panel"). Using the Criteria, the Judging Panel will determine: (i) the top ten (10) Entries per category (Short Movie and Documentary), which will then be designated as "Potential finalists"; and (ii) up to ten (10) additional Entries per category will be designated as "Potential Alternate finalists." Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Competition Entities reserve the right to select fewer than the aforementioned numbers of Potential finalists and Potential Alternate finalists for each category in the event an insufficient number of Eligible Entries is received for any category and may, at Competition Entities' discretion, substitute Entries from the other category in order to ultimately obtain a total of Ten (10) finalists for display in each category during the Public Voting Period.

    The professional representatives of the Competition Entities will determine the manner and process by which Entries are assessed, and the Criteria assigned thereto, in their sole discretion. The Judging Panel's decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to the Competition (without prejudice to any claim that could be filed before the Court). If the Competition (or any Category) does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries, and/or if any Potential finalist or Potential Alternate finalist fails to return any required documentation by the stated due date (see Section 8 below), the Competition Entities reserve the right to disqualify any Potential finalist and/or advance fewer than the stated number of finalist Entries per Category to the public vote, and/or to select a Potential Alternate finalist to qualify as a finalist, time permitting. Please note a Potential Alternate finalist will only become eligible to be designated as a finalist and included in the User Voting in the event a Potential finalist is disqualified.

  8. POTENTIAL FINALISTS
    The Potential finalists will be notified of their selection via email on or about February 8, 2013 and will/may be required to sign and properly execute any necessary documents from those listed below and return them via email or facsimile (and subsequently by mail) to Production Company (or its designee, which may include the Competition Administrator) by 12PM (noon) GMT February 10, 2013:

    1.Filmmaker Agreement and Release;
    2. Such other agreements as may be required by the Competition Entities, including but not limited to any documentation as may be required by the Competition Entities to confirm clearance of any Third Party Elements as may be contained in the Entry (together, the "Releases").

    If any Releases sent by any means to a Potential finalist/Potential Alternate finalist are returned as undeliverable, if a Potential finalist or Potential Alternate finalist cannot be reached within a reasonable time period (as determined by the Competition Entities) or fails to properly execute and return any necessary Releases within the time period noted, or if a Potential finalist or Potential Alternate finalist is found not to be eligible or not in compliance with these Official Rules, the Potential finalist or Potential Alternate finalist will be disqualified and, at the sole discretion of the Competition Entities, the individual who submitted the next highest scoring Entry (per Category) may be selected to replace such Potential finalist or Potential Alternate finalist, time permitting. Each Entrant acknowledges and agrees that the Competition Entities reserve the right to disqualify any Potential finalist at any time, in their sole discretion, on the basis of anything contained in or learned or obtained as a result of any submitted Release or any other documentation requested by any of the Competition Entities that, in their sole opinion, would constitute a breach of these Official Rules.

  9. VOTING
    Only Entries designated as finalists will be publicly displayed on the Competition Website for voting. Public voting on the finalists' will occur during the period set forth above (the "Public Voting Period"). Up to ten (10) cleared finalist Entries per Category (as determined in accordance with Section 8 above) will be posted on the Competition Website for voting by the world. Potential voters would have to login using his/her Google+ details to vote in each Category (a "Voter"). Voters will have the opportunity to critically evaluate, using the Criteria stated in Section 7 above, and to provide a positive vote of approval for each finalist Entry which such user feels is worthy of consideration as the Competition's Winner. Voters may submit a maximum of one (1) vote per Category.

    No person may vote by proxy for any other person. The use of any automated launching or entry software or any other mechanical or electronic means that permits website visitors to vote repeatedly is prohibited and all votes cast by such automated means will be disqualified. Entrants may be asked by Competition Entities to provide an explanation of how they promoted their Entry to accumulate votes and, if requested, may be required to complete additional documentation.

    At the conclusion of the Public Voting Period, three (3) finalist Entries from each Category legitimately receiving the highest number of votes by the public will be declared the "Winners". In the event of a tie for determining the Finalists in any Category at the conclusion of the Public Voting Period, all tied Entries will be re-evaluated, using the Criteria, by an Independent Judge engaged by the Competition Entities, who will then break the tie(s). The Finalists' respective Entries will be designated as such and featured on the Competition Website on or about March 6, 2013.

  10. NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS
    Winners will be notified of their selection via email on or about March 5, 2013.

    1st Prize : $25,000
    2nd Prize :$10,000
    3rd Prize : $5,000
    4th-10th : $500 each

    Documentary Category
    1st Prize : $25,000
    2nd Prize :$10,000
    3rd Prize : $5,000
    4th-10th : $500 each

    The prizes are not transferable and assignable. All federal, state, country, provincial and other tax liabilities (including income and withholding taxes) and any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided are the responsibility of the Prize Winners.

    The Prize Winners will be contacted and prizes would be paid in 'US Dollars'.
  12. RIGHTS
    Afrinolly YouTube Channel Rights: The Afrinolly Short Film Channel will be provided the right of first refusal for exclusive YouTube distribution rights to entries of the last 10 finalists. All net revenues received from YouTube after deduction of Afrinolly's marketing fees, and any other mutually agreed fees, expenses and/or costs will be split 60% to content owner and 40% to FansConnectOnline Limited.

  13. PUBLICITY RIGHTS
    By entering the Competition each Entrant agrees that the Licensed Parties shall have the right and permission to use and announce the name, picture, voice, background and biographical data, photograph, testimonial, or other likeness and/or prize information or personal exposition (and/or any edited portion thereof), and/or any information contained in his/her Entry for promotional, advertising, publicity and/or other purposes in relation to the Competition in any and all media, now or hereafter known, including but not limited to all digital and electronic media, traditional media (TV, Radio, Print) in any language, throughout the world, in perpetuity without further review, notice,
