Youths In Jos Protest; Burn Down Council Chairman, Lawmaker, & Commissioner's House.

Some youth in Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday burnt down the homes of a legislator , a commissioner and the council chairman .
The sufferers are Bako Famak, Commissioner for Youths Advancement; Joyce Ramnap, the lawmaker; and Nanman Darko, the chairman.
A witness pointed out, in Langtang on Tuesday, that the attackers took advantage of the strike stated by the Nigeria Labor Congress in solidarity with instructors and various other local government workers .
The local government workers along with teachers of primary schools have been home for 8 months to protest the non-implementation of the N18, 000 minimum wage .
A witness, who pleaded anonymity, said the reason for the attack on the houses was not clear.
He said, "the rioters, had however, accused the victims of allegedly conspiring with Governor Jonah Jang to sustain the strike and subject the workers to untold hardship.
"They also claimed that the non-implementation of the wage and the prolonged strike had killed many innocent people."
The houses of Mr. Ramnap and Mr. Darko were completely burnt down. Mr. Famak's residence was only partly burnt.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abuh Emmanuel, confirmed the incident, which he described as very sad.

"We have already deployed policemen to restore normalcy to the affected area,'' he said.
Mr. Emmanuel described the action of the mob as criminal and uncalled for since the strike was itself was illegal.

"There is a court injunction, yet the workers have chosen to embark on strike; we shall not tolerate any act of indiscipline from any person or group," he said.
