Former FirstLady Of Kogi State ,Mrs Aisha Emeje-Audu In Collaboration With Nigerians In Diaspora Brings Relief To Flood Ravaged Areas Of Kogi State With "White Flood Relief Mission".
With the flood gone and the water receded , normal life and activities is yet to return to the people of Kogi State.This is why in a bid to bring succor to the flood ravaged communities in Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Emeje-Audu, founder of A3 foundation is collaborating with Nigerian Leaders in Diaspora to create awareness on the damage caused by the flood in Nigeria that started sometime in September 2012. She initiated the "WHITE FLOOD RELIEF MISSION" aimed at bringing succour to the flood victims in Nigeria. Needs assessment was conducted on the 12th of December .The team was received by the state's emergency management agency.
The damage was assessed and solutions proffered. Amongst the communities visited include, Gande, Abom and Ogwoje in Bassa LGA, Kogi state and Eroko community, Ajaokuta LGA. The team stressed the need for the construction and renovation of schools and health centres, the need for prompt medical aid to the affected communities amidst other problems.
Afterwards, a team was mobilized to distribute relief materials and free medical services to the assessed communities and on the 7th of January, they sprung into action. The commisioner of health,kogi state, Dr Omede welcomed the team to the state and on the 9th of January, 2013 wards like Atakpa, Ogba and Gande were visited, relief materials were distributed and free medical services conducted, In total, 3 wards comprising of 11 feeder villages benefited from the scheme. Urinalysis, malaria tests, random blood sugar, weight and pressure was checked and drugs administered on the spot.
About 500 persons benefited from the scheme. Some MDGs advocates were present during the exercise and a team from UNICEF was around to observe the exercise. Some chairs and desks were donated to the LEA primary school Gande, sewing machines were also donated to aid the sewing of uniforms for school children in Gande community. The foundation will be part of the celebrities orphanage visitation to come up on the 9th of February 2013 and is prepared to render assistance to Ibaji LGA of Kogi state. We are calling on everybody to support our cause and put a smile on the faces of the poor.
This foundation hope to replicate this exercise in other states within nigeria and neighboring countries. Together we'll achieve.
