England  has called up the son of Lobi Stars chairman Dominic Iorfa Jnr to the under-18 football team for a friendly game against Belgium in Brussels tomorrow.

Dominic Iorfa senior was a Super Eagles striker who played for clubs like BCC Lions Gboko, Abiola Babes and Ranchers Bees during his playing days. He came to England in 1990 where he featured for several clubs including Queens Park Rangers, Peterborough, Southend, St Albans, Dover Athletic, Gravesend and Billericay Town.

It was while in England that the young Iorfa was born and like his dad, he has taken to football. Dominic Jnr is a centreback currently playing for the Wolves Academy and has said he is really looking forward to the experience.

Dominic said: " This is my first international call-up at any level, so I’m looking forward to going along and joining up with the squad. My dad played at full level for Nigeria, so hopefully I’ll be able to follow in his footsteps and play international football.”

Iorfa Snr added: “I am delighted with the progress my son has made. The family plan to be at the game to cheer him.”

Wolves Academy's manager, Gareth Prosser, said: “I am delighted with the call-up for Dominic. He has played well this season for the U18s and has recently gained opportunities with the U21s.

“I have been aware that the FA has been monitoring him for a while and this call-up will provide additional and valuable experience that will benefit him for the future. It will be important for Dominic to grab this opportunity, as well as understanding that he must continue to work hard in his development."

Iorfa Jnr has another year of his scholarship remaining after joining Wolves as an under 16 player from Southend United.  Renown for developing young players, the Wolves Academy has got about 14 internationals on the books at the moment.

Dominic Iorfa Snr is currently the chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi and a football administrator in Nigeria. He has also  served on the board of the Nigerian Football Federation.
