The Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, has declared Friday, April 26, 2013 a work free day for the burial of the late Deputy Governor of the State, Mrs Funmilayo Olayinka.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr Tayo Ekundayo, who disclosed this to reporters on Sunday via a telephone conversation, said all government offices and public schools should remain closed throughout that day in honour of the late Deputy Governor.
Ekundayo said that the decision was taken by the state government to allow the people of the State to pay their last respect to the late Deputy Governor, whom he described as a reliable co-pilot to Governor Kayode Fayemi that had made the transformation agenda of the present government realisable.
The Commissioner had on Wednesday revealed that the husband of the late Deputy Governor, Arch Lanre Olayinka and the family, had consented that the lady be buried in Ekiti, following the intervention of the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe and members of his council.
Some unconfirmed report had it that the late Deputy Governor would be buried at a location behind a new generation bank in Fajuyi area of Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
The site, which is presently under construction , according to government source, would become a State Monument that would be named after Mrs Olayinka for her immense contributions to the development of the State.
Her body is expected to arrive Ado Ekiti on Wednesday from Lagos for processions that would culminate in interment, Friday.
