Nigeria: Benue to Get 30 Mega Watts Power Supply .

Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State has said that the state will soon enjoy 30 mega watts electricity supply following its efforts to generate power through alternative means.

Suswam who disclosed this yesterday while receiving delegation of National Energy Council (NEC) said the project would be realised in partnership with the Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC).

According to him, the renew-able power generation program with NNPC will go a long way to address the perennial power challenges facing the state.

The governor expressed optimism that the Federal Government's commitment towards increased power supply in the country would yield positive results at the end of the year.

He assured that his administration would do everything such as its present collaboration with NEC to also generate power from solar energy to ensure that the state completely solve problems associated with power.

Suswam added that a solar field had already been provided in the state for work to begin in earnest, hoping that the Bank of Infrastructure would finance the project.

Earlier, the Secretary of NEC, Ibrahim Shehu Sheda, who led the delegation intimated the governor that the Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the German government since 2008 with a view that states would key into the project to generate their own electricity through alternative sources.
