146 Goals Scandal: NFF Slams Life Ban On Officials, Players .

When I heard the news of two teams scoring 149 goals in 2 matches,I laughed out my head till I had headache ,wooow I've never heard of a thing like this before, not even in India where we hear that they use voodoo to win,146 Gooooaallls, anyway NFF has taken a decision.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has slammed life ban on players, club officials and referees that played part in the 146 goals match fixing scandal that jolted world of football and forced world soccer ruling body FIFA to issue a veiled warning against NFF.

Plateau United Feeders score 79 goals to nil against Akurba FC, while Police Machine FC of Adamawa found the net 67 times in the show of shame in Bauchi that has attracted nationwide condemnation.

NFF 1st Vice President, Mike Umeh, who chaired the investigation into the scandal said all the players who featured in the two matches were all culpable given the manner both  the winners and losers enthusiastically defended the results during investigation.

Only two team, Plateau Feeders and Akurba FC showed up during the investigation hearing.

The committee singled out the captain of Akurba FC, Anjide Said Timothy for special rebuke, naming him as an arrow head in the scam. The player according to the match report, scored three own goals against his side, in the 79 -goal routing.

The committee said it could not establish any monetary inducement but deduced that there was fraudulent conspiracy among teams, all in a bid to top the table via dubious means.

“It is clear to the committee that the question of who top the table in Bauchi Centre and qualify for the Nationwide division 3 League was responsible for the match fixing. While the winners were desperate to win, the losers were too willing to lose,”  stated the panel.

Shocking match statistics released by the panel showed number two jersey of Plateau United Feeders, Jacob Bulus, scored  14 goals in ninety minutes, with two of the goals coming in he 52nd minute. Bulus also scored in the 54th, 58th, 62nd, 63rd, 64th, 65th, 67th, 68th, 70th 77th, 83rd, and 84h minutes of the encounter. He was not the only hitman as Paul Danjuma netted 11 goals in the same match. Curiously both players were shown to have scored in the70th minutes of the match.

The panel also slammed life ban on the two centre referees and their assistants and the two match commissioners for failing to live up to their responsibility thereby bringing the game into disrepute. The committee found them particularly to blame for failing to use their powers within the regulations of association football.

Also punished were all officials of the four clubs that accompanied the teams, including technical and administrative staff. Centre Coordinator Tanko Maiyaki got a temporary reprieve despite being indicted by the panel. The committee claimed that Maiyaki who is a member of board of the Nigeria Nationwide League (NNWL ) called a press conference soon after the match to cancel the outcome of the matches. His case was however referred to the NNWL Board for further action.
