Committee To Spend N100 Billion For Varsities.


Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Needs Assessment for Nigerian Universities and governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam has constituted an adhoc committee saddled with the task of coming up with plans of expending N100 billion on infrastructure development in Nigerian universities.

The sub-committee, to be chaired by the Executive Secretary of Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), will look up to areas of students hostels, lecture theatres, laboratories and other important projects in universities.

A statement from the Benue state liaison office in Abuja and signed by the Assistant Director Information, Orduen Dura further stated that such projects to be undertaken are expected to reposition the university system in the country.

According to the statement, the sub-committee members were drawn up from NUC, FMC, National Planning Commission, ASUU, USPF as well as NITDA, with the Principal Secretary of the governor as the secretary of the committee.

They are expected to report back to the main committee on August 11th, when it will meet again.
