Former Minister Of Education Dr Obi Ezekwesili Calls For The Establishment Of " PartTime Legislature" In Nigeria.


Former minister of education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili has called for the establishment of a part-time legislature in the country.

Dr. Ezekwesili, who made the call at a gathering organised by some civil society organisations in Abuja, said the part-time legislature will help save cost for the country and also filter the crop of people who emerge as members of the National Assembly.

She added that the funds saved from the establishment of the part-time legislature could be used in the development of other sectors of the economy begging for attention.

The forum was organized to deliberate on ways of reducing cost of governance in the country which is currently put at over 70 per cent.

The former minister also gave an analysis of how over one trillion naira has been paid to members of the National Assembly between 2005 to date.
