The West African Campus Superstar event is being promoted by the West African Movie Academy (WAMA) in partnership with Papel Image Technologies.
As millions of university undergraduates on our West African Campuses have talents and dream of transforming these talents to stardom, the WACS project is set to consummate these talents into motion picture and music recording deals for the two winners that will emerge from amongst the entries received during this annual competition.
WACS is therefore looking for talented University undergraduates who are gifted in any of acting, comedy, singing or dancing. Those interested participants who fall in these categories are on their way to becoming the next West African Campus Superstar the world is waiting for.
The West African Movie Academy (WAMA) is an entertainment institute specially aimed at talent development, capacity building and training in the motion picture industry and music in the West African sub-region, especially Nigeria.
The promoters of the academy are technically and creatively versatile in the area of film making, television, music and other related aspects of entertainment having attended relevant professional institutions and participated in many creativity programs including the BBC "Wright Around the World" and "The African Performance", the National Film Institute of Nigeria and the EDC of the Pan African University etc. They have also done over 22 Nollywood movies & TV drama in partnership with notable production companies in Nigeria & Sierra Leone, some of which have won multiple nominations & awards in Nigeria, including NTA, AMAA & ZUMA Film Festival Awards. The promoters also have professional banking experience spanning over a decade with various banking institutions in Nigeria.
Papel Image Technology is an incorporated production studio in Nigeria. Located in the heart of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, they have the most sophisticated digital studio with state-of-the-art equipment in line with global standards. Core areas of operations are film and music video production, documentary, media coverage etc. employing the use of the latest digital technology and professional expertise. Viewership of their productions has gone beyond Africa, transcending global media houses including Reuters, CCTV, Al-Jazeera and Africa Magic on the home front.
