Agila Carnival 2013, Promoting Idoma Talent And Cutural Heritage

The Local Organizing Committee for 2013 edition of Agila Social and Economic Carnival has called for partnership with the media in order to boost public awareness of the project’s key objective. This was made known in a media/press meet held recently at Empire Suites, Makurdi, Benue State. The meeting was well attended by publishers in the state, radio and television broadcasters as well as bloggers.

The Project Coordinator, Comrade Lee Oche educated the press on the agenda of Agila Carnival also called Idoma National Carnival which is intended to make Idoma land conspicuous as the centre of social and economic activity in the middle belt, a microcosm of the splendor and richness of Nigeria’s rich cultural tapestry, he stated. Noting that the carnival will provide a forum for participants and investors while basking in the atmosphere of cultural kaleidoscope, will identify business and investment opportunities hidden in Idoma land.

The Artistic Director, John Onah spoke on the entirety of this maiden edition of Agila Carnival which will climax between 23rd and 25thDecember 2013 with major highlights of Business Expo and Economic Roundtable slated for 23rd in Otukpo; Idoma’s Got Talent for 24th & 25th in Apa-Agila & Otukpo; Cultural Parade and Youth Calisthenics for 24th in Apa-Agila and Face of Idoma for 25th in Otukpo, stating that it will be an annual event that will showcase the Idoma talent and cultural heritage to the world.

Speaking on Idoma’s Got Talent, Joseph Oche stated that 48 candidates with 25 from Otukpo, 18 from Makurdi and 5 from Kaduna have made it to the finals of Idoma’s Got Talent pointing out that professionals are going to be invited for training and grooming of the contestant to international super stars with a star prize of an awesome record deal contract.

Ene Ogezi, the representative of the head of marketing briefed the press of the progress made so far stressing the need for participation to make the carnival a remarkable success as promised by the organisers as everything is on ground to ensure this. She further stated that the price for the Face of Idoma, which is a brand new Kia Saloon car was donated by Kia Motors for this project and assured the press of provision of transportation, accommodation and feeding in the land of Agila.
