Ben Igbinedion Found Guilty Of Murdering His Three-Year-Old Nephew For Bed Wetting.

A Nigerian man has been found guilty of murdering his three-year-old nephew for bed wetting on the bed they were sharing together,he inflicted catastrophic” injuries upon Daniel Evbuomwan that the injuries were likened to those caused by a car crash.
Ben Igbinedion, 44, of Brangbourne Road, had denied murdering Daniel Evbuomwan, who died at University Hospital, in Lewisham on March 2.

According to Professor Anthony Risden who carried out the post mortem,
The injuries to the child were so bad that they could have been suffered in a car crash,
Daniel, who had been living with his grandmother Rosemary, was a healthy child until he went to stay with his uncle Ben, an Old Bailey jury was told.He assaulted his nephew in the early hours of the morning after Daniel wet the bed they had been sharing.
Igbinedion then put Daniel back to sleep in a different bed but when family members tried to wake him in the morning, he did not respond.
He maintained he could not explain what had happened to Daniel throughout the trial.

Det Ch Insp Graem Gwyn said: “Ben Igbinedion’s violent actions resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy who had no chance of defending himself and devastated the lives of two families.
“Throughout the time since Daniel’s death, Igbinedion has continued to deny any involvement. However, a jury has seen through his story and convicted him of murder.”
Daniel’s mother, Augustina Kunu, said her son’s death had left her “empty, heartbroken, lonely, lost, devastated and confused”, in a statement read to the court.

She added: “I cannot concentrate or focus on my studies, I am unable to sleep and when I am able I wake up in tears because I can no longer see him lying by my side.
“I cannot get over Daniel’s death because of the bond we had. He was a brilliant son, a friend, a star, a hero and a help-mate.

“His death has affected my marriage, leaving it empty because Daniel was our dream, the pride and crown of our marriage.

“His dad, Victor, has been left broken-hearted, confused, lonely and empty. This whole matter has pulled our family apart. My prayer is that God will restore peace to our families.”
