Read His Letter To His Fans....

I am packing my bags o
Not long ago I was doing the same thing but that time it was to
fly to India – this time around is to fly back to Nigeria.
Getting back home after a 4 month stay in India is a wonderful feeling …

As the old saying goes, “seeing is believing ”  I saw, I experienced and thought I should share my experience with my fellow country men.
It all started with Mabel, my wife (fondly known as Mamma J) calling Mrs. Shaila Raveendran in India and discussing my medical challenge of having diagnosed with Kidney Issues.  Everything after that fell quickly into place in the following order …
Mailed our reports
Received a Medical Opinion & Estimate from leading Physicians & Surgeons in India
Mailed our passport details
Received a Letter of Invitation for our Medical Visa
Applied for our Visa
Booked our tickets and flew to India
As we landed in India Shaila had made arrangements to pick us up from the International Airport and we were taken to the hospital straight where she was waiting to meet & greet us.

At the hospital to name a few, we went through the following …..
Registration
Admission
Consultations with multiple super-specialists
Laboratory Investigations
Radiodiagnostics
High End Scans
Treatment
Procedures
Dialysis

As I got stabilized and was preparing to get discharged from the hospital, I was given multiple options for
Specially discounted accommodation (fully furnished apartments with facility to do self cooking to hotels)
Transport (keke nap ape to a Taxi)
I opted to move into an apartment as we could cook our traditional food yet pay a nominal price as opposed to exorbitant hotel rates where you cannot cook ..
I continued to come to the hospital on an OPD (out patient basis) for my dialysis, completed all paper work which are part of the legal formalities to undergo a Kidney Transplantation Surgery in India.

Two days prior to my surgery on the 19th of October 2013 I got admitted in the hospital along with my donor Mamma J.
Amidst all the silent prayers of my fans, friends and family I underwent a successful KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION surgery by God’s grace on the 21st of October 2013.

His Wife Mabel donated her kidney to save OJB.

I got discharged after a week’s stay in the hospital and went back to my good old accommodation close to the hospital.
I continued to come for my regular post operative checkups with my Nephrologists and Kidney Transplant Surgeons and here I am preparing to head home ……
At this point, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the entire team of doctors who took care of me at the Columbia Asia Hospital under the very able & superior leadership of Dr. S Sundar (Chief Nephrologist) & Dr. Ajit Huilgol (Chief Kidney Transplant Surgeon) both Directors of KANTI an organization that was established in the year 1991. You may contact me / shaila to reach Dr. Sundar or Dr. Ajit.

The last 4 months has taught me to see life very closely.  I thank God for everything he has given me and the opportunity that I now have to help fellow Nigerians.
While in India I had the chance to understand the entire healthcare system and why thousands of patients from across the globe travel to India for treatment.  The costs, the quality and the zero waiting time convinced me.
I noticed not less than a 100 Nigerians under treatment for various health challenges and most of them happy and convinced with the line of treatment, costs and the general attitude and behaviour of Indian Medical, Para-medical & Support staff.
With my first-hand experience, having watched life from such close quarters, I have decided to start a unique program that will help hundreds of fellow Nigerians under the banner of OJB FOUNDATION.  My dream would be to SAVE as many LIVES as possible through this initiative and set it up in a way that it would continue to function with or without me …
By his special grace I must be able to initiate work as soon as I reach Nigeria and rest for a short while

Last but not the least I would like to thank my Health Care Advisor, Mrs. Shaila Raveendran for being there for us in an alien land at every step – from the time we decided to explore India for treatment till the time we are now ready to hop into our flight back home.
Shaila is the Director of an organization known as Speedy Recovery which facilitates world-class, comprehensive, health care and allied services for patients across the globe who need diagnostic, medical and surgical treatment assistance in India.

Can’t wait to touch Nigerian soil …..
