Former CP Lagos State Abubakar Tsav Accuses Politicians & Police OverExtra Judicial Killings In Gboko.

Former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Tsav, has accused the police and some highly placed politicians in Benue State of extra-judicial killings in Gboko in a petition he addressed to the National Human Rights Commission.
The Chief Public Affairs Officer of the NHRC, Fatimah Mohammed, said this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja.

The statement read, “National Human Rights Commission has received a petition by a retired Commissioner of Police, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Tsav, alleging gross human rights abuses including extra-judicial killings in Gboko, Benue State.”
However, the statement did not disclose details of the extra-judicial killings.
Also, the highly placed politicians, who were blamed alongside the police for the killings, were not named.
The former police chief in the same vein raised the alarm over alleged plans to give victims of the killings, who are deposited in the Gboko General Hospital, a mass burial without notifying the public of the cause of their death.
Parts of the statement said, “In the eleven-page petition, Alhaji Tsav accused the police and some highly-placed politicians of murder, culpable homicide and connivance with known criminals.
“He also expressed concern about the alleged plan to carry out mass burial of corpses in Gboko general Hospital Mortuary without the public knowing the cause of the deaths and reporting same to the coroners for possible inquest.”
Tsav, who explained that his concern was adherence to rule of law, respect for human rights and sanctity of human life, corrupt-free society and fear of God, equally called on the NHRC to take appropriate action on the petition in line with its constitutional responsibilities and requirement.
Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of NHRC, Prof. Bem Angwe, has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.
