Count Down To 2015 Elections,1 Commissioner,3 Perm Secs Resign To Contest Elections In Benue State.

As the race to the 2015 governorship election in Benue State hots up, a commissioner and three permanent secretaries have formally resigned. The four persons are aspiring for the state’s most exalted seat come 2015

The state governor, Dr Gabriel Suswam, had issued a statement through the Head of Service, Mr Terna Ahua, that all public servants aspiring for elective offices, particularly governorship seat, should resign their appointments not later than end of January.

Those who have formally resigned are former Commissioner for Agriculture, Eugene Aliegba; Permanent Secretary, Government House, Tivlumun Nyitse; Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Internal Affairs, Hinga Biem and the Permanent Secretary Local Government Pension Board, Andy Uwuoko.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that many public servants eyeing other elective offices in the national and state assemblies, have also been asked to resign their appointments.
Checks, however, revealed that prior to the directive that all public servants nursing governorship ambition should resign, no fewer than 20 public servants had signified their interest in the coveted seat with their posters adorning major streets of the capital city of Makurdi. With the directive having taken effect, many were said to have jettisoned their ambition and holding tenaciously to their office as only four persons have so far resigned.
