Traditional Ruler Escapes Through Window To Flee From Fulani Herdsmen.


FOR the fifth time in the last three weeks, suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded Adeke community, shooting sporadically. This action  led to pandemonium as residents and the village monarch, Chief Iorbee Ladan flee.

A resident of the area, one Uche told Sunday Tribune that the Fulani herdsmen, numbering fifty, invaded the community and moved straight to the monarch’s palace, while shooting sporadically.
Sunday Tribune learnt that the monarch immediately took a hidden route in the palace and climbed the fence in a bid to escape while one of his neighbours identified as Anthony Chukwu was shot dead in the attack.
A resident of the community, a suburb of Makurdi metropolis said that the Fulani herdsmen had invaded the area around 7pm at the weekend, shooting from different directions which made the residents to flee their homes while those returning after the day’s work had to turn back.
When Sunday Tribune went round adjourning communities at the weekend, many people were seen trekking with loads on their heads while many people who did not have relatives in town passed the night at public places and primary schools around Idemekpe.
Sunday Tribune also noticed the presence of stern looking soldiers and policemen stationed  within the community.
The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, DSP Dan Ezeala told Sunday Tribune that more security operatives have been deployed to the area and also confirmed that one person died during the invasion.
