Ijaw Group Blows Up Chevron Pipeline •Says Uduaghan Should ForgetSenatorial Ambition.

The alleged marginalisation of Ijaws in job placement and contract allotment by Chevron Nigeria Ltd and Warri North Local Government Area reared its ugly head again on Wednesday with the blowing up of Dibi Major Lines belonging to CNL.
The Egbema Radical Group (ERG), which claimed responsibility for the explosion, also hinged their reason on alleged refusal by the state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, to execute the Warri peace agreement, particularly in Warri North.
The group also warned that it would make coming elections impossible in the local government area as well as work against the senatorial ambition of Governor Uduaghan, if he does not see to the implementation of the said peace agreement.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the explosion, which reportedly left behind no casualties in its wake, rocked the Dibi Major Lines at about 2.00a.m on Wednesday, with the Ijaw group warning that more explosions would come up in the next 24 hours if CNL does not accede to its requests.
It is believed that the explosion might have caused a major setback to the already volatile fuel situation in the country.
The Egbema people in Warri North, an Ijaw stock, cohabit in the local government area with their Itsekiri neighbours.
It will be recalled that the Egbema people have been agitating for equal share with Itsekiri in the political slots in the local government area including the chairmanship position.
Spokesman of the Egbema group, Ami Dada, while confirming the explosion carried out on the Dibi Major lines early Wednesday, said the oil company had  just 24 hours to correct all wrongs meted out on Egbema people, else it should expect more attacks.
He noted that the explosion at the Dibi major oil line is a continuation of their warnings to Governor Uduaghan to implement the Warri peace agreement and to Chevron, to consider the interest of Egbema people.
Meanwhile, the Delta Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Mofe Pira, said, “I am aware of a situation concerning a pipeline in Dibi, but I do not know of any agreement and have never seen or read any that government reneged on just as I am not aware if anybody is responsible for the pipeline incident.”
Spokeman of CNL, Victor Anyaegbudike, when reached for reaction to the claims and demands of the Ijaw group, said the company would soon issue a statement on the incident.
