NUT Urges Gov Suswam To Pay Benue Primary School Teachers 6 MonthsSalary Arrears.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) on Thursday called on Gov. Gabriel Suswam of Benue to pay the six months salary arrears owned primary school teachers.
The union made the call in a statement signed by Mr Michael Olukoya and Mr Obong Obong, President and Secretary General of the union respectively. The statement recalled that primary school teachers in the state embarked on indefinite strike since Oct. 2013 to press for the payment of their new minimum wage.
It stated that since the strike began, ``the Government of Benue has not shown any concern.”NUT reminded the governor that he was elected to better the lot of the citizenry and not to add to their problems.
The statement said that non-payment of the arrears had made the children of the poor; largely pupils of public primary schools, to remain out of school for over six months.According to the statement, the problem is capable of bringing concomitant negative impact on the innocent pupils of the state in future.

So true.I know a couple of kids who have been at home.whenever I am in Benue for work and I see them at home when their contemporaries are going to school. So sad.
