Watch The "Anatomy Of A Boko Haram Attack In Nigeria " By ColinFreeman, Filmed By Tom Saater And Edited By Philip Allen.

Boko Haram, the Nigerian Islamist group, has sprung to worldwide notoriety in recent weeks after its abduction of more than 220 schoolgirls from the north-east town of Chibok.
But the mass kidnapping is just the latest in a campaign of violence that has killed an estimated 4,000 Nigerians in the past four years. While some of the group's attacks have involved kidnappings and carbombings, most of them have been indiscriminate assaults on villages across the north-east, sometimes killing hundreds of people at a time.

Much of the north-east is difficult for Western media to access. But in early May, The Telegraph visited the village of Ganye in Nigeria's north-east Adamawa State, where an attack by suspected Boko Haram militants on March 22 last year left at least 25 people dead.
The gunmen, who were armed with bombs, machine-guns and rocket-propelled grenades, attacked a bar, a bank, a police station, a church. They also stormed the home of a local politician, who was shot dead in front of his wife.
Here, survivors of the attack tell their tales.click link below to watch the video.
