Idomas Vow To Boycott 2015 Elections If Not Allowed To Produce The Next Governor Of Benue State.

Ahead of the 2015 election, the Idoma speaking people of Benue State have warned that they may not participate in the guber election if the next governor is not from the place.

The president of Idoma National Forum (INF), Dr Okopi Alex Momoh, stated this at the weekend, in Otukpo, the trado-political seat of Idomaland during the maiden edition of a memorial lecture of the first paramount ruler of Idoma nation, HRH Ogiri Oko, Ochidoma 1, Dr Momoh, who accused the Tiv brothers for using numerical strength to dominate the state’s political space since 1976, warned that the nation might be forced to boycott 2015 governorship election if the it was not considered for the position.

He noted that the state must embrace the concept of balanced governance and create a sense of belonging for everybody as enshrined in the constitution, stressing that other states had embraced the concept. According to him, “some multi-tribal states in the country such as Akwa Ibom and Cross River states are adopting rotation of the governorship position on senatorial basis. “We expect same to happen in Benue State starting from the 2015 governorship election by allowing the Benue South senatorial district to produce the governor of the state in 2015.” “If we do not get the concession on rotation, we will not participate in the governorship election in 2015,” he said.

The Igedes should also refuse to participate in any senatorial election in zone c if the idomas fail to allow them to contest and represent the zone in the senate come 2015
