Benue Dep.Gov Donates Relief Materials To Displaced People In Kwande LGA.

Benue State deputy governor, Chief Steven Lawani, has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to internally displaced persons affected by the recent Tiv- Fulani and Jukun crisis in Jato-Aka, Kwande Local Government Area of the state.

Presenting the items to the victims, Lawani called for a permanent end to frequent hostilities, unnecessary killings and wanton destruction of properties prevalent among neighbouring communities in the country.
He also told the displaced people that adequate security measures had been put in place by security agencies to ensure safety of lives and property in the affected communities to facilitate their return to their communities.
The deputy governor said he was touched by the plight of the victims of the needless conflicts, adding that the relief materials he donated were his personal contributions aimed at bringing succour to them.
The items include bags of rice, beans, maize, cartons of noodles, magi cubes and household effects such as mattresses, blankets, buckets, mats and detergents, amongst others.
Priest of St. Michael Parish, Jato Aka, The Rev Fr. Vincent Akputu, who received the items on behalf of the victims, applauded the kind gesture of the deputy governor and promised that it would be equitably distributed among the beneficiaries. He urged other well-meaning individuals and corporate organisations to emulate Lawani’s example.
