Benue State Workers Have Started An Indefinite Strike Over Salary Reduction.






The Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress in Benue State, have started an indefinite strike today to show their disapproval on an earlier order from Gov Gabriel Suswam to deduct staff salaries.

The step was seen necessary by the union due to government’s failure to meet the demands of the union. It was made known in a communiqué jointly signed by the NLC Chairman, Mr Simon Anchaver, and his TUC counterpart, Mr Ordue Tartenger, in Makurdi after a meeting yesterday.

The communiqué which contains both unions beckoning on the state government to reverse the reduction of workers’ salaries or face the wrath of the workers. Expressing worries over the state government’s decision to deduct workers’ salaries, the unions made it known that some of their observations about the shortcomings of the state government to the workers.
