'If I have my way I will reconcile Akume and Suswam'-Chief Samuel Ortom
Benue Guber aspirant and minister of state for industry, trade and investment, Dr. Samuel Ortom said yesterday that he would strive to evolve workable measures to reconcile senate minority leader, George Akume and Benue State governor Gabriel Suswam to enhance the development of the state.
The duo of Akume and Suswam have been in alleged disagreement for sometime now and this prompted Akume to leave the PDP for ACN now APC.
However, Ortom while informing journalists of his intention to run for governor in 2015 lamented the situation and said Benue is seriously lagging behind and needed the peaceful cooperation of its leaders to move it forward.
According to the minister, the state is underdeveloped in areas of industrialisation, unemployment and job creation and assured that he would boost commercial activities in the state if elected the next governor.
“If I have my way I will reconcile Akume and Suswam so that Benue would move forward. I respect Akume anywhere I see him but I don’t share in his disagreement with Suswam. I can only build bridges of peace rather than encourage violence.
If elected, I will industrialise Benue State in order to create wealth and reduce unemployment. I will end exportation of primary products and encourage patronage from foreign investors to boost commercial activities,” Ortom stated.
