According to ThisDayLive,a  35-year-old man of Katsina Ala of Benue State named Jimmy James, who paraded himself as Reverend Father Mathew, was yesterday arrested by Bauchi State police command for defrauding a man of N60,000. The fake Reverend Matthew was arrested alongside his 34-year-old colleague, Emmanuel Asemave from Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State in connection with the alleged crime.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed, in a press statement yesterday said immediately Sumi complained to the GRA Police Division and the impersonators were arrested by the men of the command.

According to him, “Suspects obtained under false pretense the sum of N60,000 Naira from one Joel Sumi male of Tafawa Balewa LGA of Bauchi along Bank Road where they posed as fortune-tellers and defrauded the complainant.”

Similarly, the statement said the command arrested one Jamilu Hussaini of Hotoro ward in Kano State who conspired with two others persons who are at large and obtained the sum of N99,000 from one Saidu Adamu of Unguwan Sarakuna in Bauchi under false pretence that they are “Evil Spirits”.
