Security: Jonathan, Security Chiefs Hold Crucial Meeting.

President Goodluck Jonathan is frantically making efforts to tie the loose ends in national security as he held a closed doors meeting with Security Chiefs at the Presidential villa on Wednesday .

The President had also met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo on same security matters, as the former President told newsmen that the meeting was at the instance of the President who personally invited him.

Obasanjo had earlier indicated that he had a clue on how to tackle the growing menace of insurgency in Nigeria, and had requested for presidential permission to take steps towards addressing the problem.

Working in concert with a Civil Rights activist, Comrade Shehu Sani, the former President had visited the hot bed of Boko Haram in Borno State in 2011 to condole the family of Yusuf Mohammed, leader of the Boko Haram sect in Maiduguri, Borno State who had earlier been killed.

Boko Haram struck the following day after Obasanjo’s visit, killing Yusuf’s in-Lawal, Babakura Fuggu on possible suspicion that he may have started compromising with the authorities.

However, the meeting between Jonathan and the Service Chiefs including the Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, took place before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.

No official of the government who attended the meeting briefed the media on what was discussed
Of late, there has been increase in the activities of Boko Haram, as members of the Islamic sect claimed it has annexed some areas in Born state, north-east of Nigeria where it declared a Caliphate state.
The Military authorities have vowed to dislodge the insurgents from the areas they n to be named as Caliphate state.
