Two Beninoise nabbed with human skull in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two citizens of Benin Republic, identified as Gerard Djassau and Sassau Djimon, for being in possession of a human skull.

The suspects, who were apprehended by a team of policemen on patrol along Lagos-Badagry expressway, were said to be herbalists.

According to reports, 32-year-old Djassau said he got the skull from an herbalist friend in his community in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

While the second suspect, Djimon, also an herbalist, who lives at Owode Egba, Abeokuta, Ogun State, said he was expecting Djassau to bring the human parts to his house as agreed before they were arrested.

It was gathered that the Benin nationals were initially arrested by policemen from the Badagry Police Division before their case was transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command.
Suspects’ account

During interrogation, Djassau, who is married with two children, told newsmen that he brought the human skull to Lagos to give Djimon, his country man, so that they could use it to get more spiritual powers.

Meanwhile, 28-year-old Djimon claimed he was truly expecting Djassau to pay him a visit, but he was not aware he was coming with a human skull.

The father of five said: “Although I am from Benin Republic, I grew up in Lagos, and that is why I can speak Yoruba language fluently. I work as a native doctor too in Owode Egba area of Abeokuta. I treat women who are barren, people who have epilepsy, blood pressure and other ailments.

“When Djassau came to my house last year, he consulted fellow herbalists that he needed more powers for his work. When leaving, he told me he would be bringing an idol for me from Benin Republic which would be used for the powers. I did not know he was bringing a human skull until I saw the police who came to arrest me.”
Their arrest, according to Police sources, followed an intelligence report received by the Lagos State Police Command on activities of human parts dealers, which made the Commander SARS, Abba Kyari, to embark on a manhunt that led to the arrest of the suspects.
The suspects, as gathered, would be charged to court soon.
