Wooh ! ! Idomas Accept Deputy Governor Slot? Ado Local Government Picked To Produce Deputy Gov.

The Idoma Voice has gathered from its investigation that there are moves afoot by the Idoma political leadership to cede the governorship spot, in the PDP in Benue State for 2015, to the Tiv.

This is in spite of the fact that the Idoma has never set foot as governor in Government House Makurdi since the creation of the state in 1976 . According to findings, meetings were held in Otukpo in which the political who-is-who-in Idoma land were in attendance.
It was agreed in one of these meetings, held in the home of the highest chieftaincy holder in the land, to rotate the post of the deputy governorship candidate for the PDP to Ado. Local Government Area in Idoma land.
We were tipped of this development by an anonymous insider who claimed to have attended the meeting, that “The decision was made to pick the deputy governor slot from Ado Local Government Area for 2015. Though it was greeted with mixed reactions especially from the camps of guber aspirants from Zone C; but they were told the bitter truth that the Tiv would never concede the governorship position to the Idoma.
However, we were told that the present Deputy Governor, and a guber aspirant, Chief Steve Lawani was conspicuously absent from the meetings. The consequence of this is the Idoma has once again accepted, true to form, to play the second fiddle in the affairs of the state when cognizance is taken of the fact that the PDP is the natural ruling party in Benue state having dominated government for the past 15 years in the state.
It would be recalled that President of the senate and the political leader of Idoma land, David Mark was once quoted as saying that the Idoma can never govern Benue State except Apa State is created. As of this moment five illustrious sons and a daughter of Idoma land has indicated interest in the governorship seat of Benue State. They are Chief Steve Lawani, Dr. Matthias Oyigeya, Hon. Harris Paul Ogbole, Hon. Sam Ode and Chief Ada Chenge. However, efforts to contact the five governorship aspirants from Zone C proved abortive in time for this story.
