President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has for the umpteenth time restated his resolve to pursue to the logical conclusion the quest for the creation of additional states in the country.
Senator Mark noted that the desire of most Nigerians is the creation of states to correct some imbalances and give every Nigerian a sense of belonging in the system, saying " it is the legitimate demand of the agitators for such."

Speaking when four members of the House of Representatives and nine chairmen of local government councils from his Benue South constituency visited him in Abuja today, Senator Mark stressed, "even if it takes my last breath , I want to pursue the creation of state . I will put in my last breadth to ensure the creation of Apa state for my people".

Responding to the call by his constituents to contest the 2015 Senatorial seat, Senator Mark told his people "I am a loyal, faithful and dedicated party man, I will only make my intention known when the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) releases the guidelines and programme for the elections ".


He told the people to remain steadfast and loyal to the PDP because there are good reasons including guaranteed dividends of democracy to remain in the party.

Senator Mark however cautioned aspirants to political offices to base their campaigns on issues that would positively impact on the citizenry instead of engaging in mudslinging or character assassination.

"We should be able to tell the people what we have done and what we intend to do when elected," he stated.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, who is also the Chairman, Ogbadibo local government area of Benue State, Sunday Adah Ojo said their visit was necessitated by the immense pressure from citizens and opinion leaders from Benue South Senatorial district to compel Senator Mark to contest the 2015 Senatorial seat .

Ojo stressed that the Idoma nation presently have no better candidate other than Mark adding that the body of the Chairmen and the executives of the Nine Local government councils from the Zone have endorsed the candidature of the Senate President.

He noted the giant strides Senator Mark's representation has brought to the people of the Zone, "the quality representation and stability Senator Mark has rendered to the nation, North central, Benue State and Benue South Senatorial district is unquantified.

"We are here to deliver the message from the Idoma elders, women, youths and opinion leaders to you that whether you like it or not, you must stand for another term as a Senator representing Benue South in the National Assembly." Ojo said.

Ojo listed Senator Mark's dividends of democracy to the zone to include but not limited to road constructions, health, educations, under which scholarships have been awarded to thousands of indigent students across the country, construction and rehabilitation of schools, multipurpose Otobi dam, National Open University complex in the Zone, JAMB centre and many more Federal projects.


Also the Chairman, Ado local government area of the State and the Chairman ALGON,Benue South Alex Ogaba commended the Senate President for the stability he brought to Nigerian politics, saying all tiers of government are now working harmoniously for the good of the citizenry.

Ogaba assured that the people of the Zone will do everything possible to bring Senator Mark back to the Senate adding that they will stand behind him to ensure his return.

Speaking on behalf of the members from the House of Representatives from Benue South, Hassan Saleh said the Idoma nation is ready to return Senator Mark unopposed in 2015.
The delegation included Chairman, Otukpo local government, Dr. Innocent Onuh, his Agatu counterpart Dutse Stephen, OHIMINI's Mark Sunday, Okpokwu's Julie Obeta, Oju's Bright Ogbaji , Apa's Owoicho Oyih, and Obi's Odeh Michael .

Members of House of Representatives included; Samson Okwu, Ezeikel Adaji, and Adamu Entonu.
