Housewife And Student Of BSU Manhandled For Stealing Okirika Clothes At Wurukum Market.

A student of the Benue State University (BSU), identified as Stephanie (surname withheld) and a housewife, simply known as Mrs. Tee, were yesterday in Makurdi, Benue State manhandled after they allegedly connived and stole some fairly used clothes.

The mild drama occurred at the popular Wurukum market where traders sell second hand clothes every Sunday.

Eye witnesses said the housewife and the female student, who is her daughter in-law, had come to the place to purchase the clothes and had smartly made off with some of the clothes, but the dealer, suspecting foul play, insisted that their bags be searched.

It was gathered that the situation attracted the attention of other customers while the trader was shouting. The issue was said to have come to a head, when the woman, said to be newly married, was ordered to open her bag and she blatantly refused, denying fervently that the clothes were not in her bag.

However, luck ran out of the duo when another trader, who claimed to have known the criminal acts of the suspects, walked into the place. His testimony propelled the traders to carry out thorough search on the bag belonging to the student and housewife.

Strangely, the stolen clothes were found with the women during the search, while some angry mob started manhandling them immediately. Market sources said the matter was quickly reported to the security operatives in the place.
