Stephen Fry has married his partner Elliott Spencer, after announcing their engagement just ten days ago.
The 57-year-old, who hosts the popular quiz show QI on BBC1, shared the news on Twitter, posting a photograph him and his new husband signing the civil register.
He told his half a million followers: "Gosh.@ElliottSpencer and I go into a room as two people, sign a book and leave as one. Amazing."
Mr Spencer, a 27-year-old stand-up comedian, retweeted the image and congratulations messages from fans and well-wishers instantly began pouring in.
Dressed in a grey suit with a multi-coloured tie, the Mr Fry is seen gazing affectionately at Mr Spencer, who donned a black suit and blue tie for the occasion.
Both wore matching yellow carnations as they posed to sign the civil register.
After details of their engagement emerged in the Sun newspaper earlier this month, Mr Fry publically confirmed the news, joking his hopes of a private wedding had been spoiled.

Writing on Twitter on January 6, he said: ''Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag.
''I'm very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!''
Fry has been a prominent advocate of same-sex marriage, and last year hosted a Channel 4 programme featuring a "musical" gay wedding.

He has been spotted regularly with Elliott, a writer, in recent months, as they enjoyed themselves at Ascot racecourse, the Savoy hotel and in Fry's home town.
