Benue E-Monitors is a social media concept developed to ensure credible and fair elections through citizen monitoring of the elections and participation in the electoral process via social media platforms.

Using social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram etc. citizens and electorates will take advantage of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) permission for the admittance of cameras to election venues, to follow up malpractice, rigging and also keep record of the election even as the voting progresses.
How will it work?
Benue E-Monitors will set up a control room where interested citizens and volunteers will send pictures of the accreditation process, voting, number of accredited voters, time of commencement and final results after voting.
Email addresses, twitter handles, Facebook pages and also Instagram accounts will be made available.
Before the elections proper, Benue E-Monitor will create an interactive platform where there will be a pre-election interaction between aspirants and electorates, where questions will be fielded to aspirants and answers proffered in real time.
Also planned is a voter sensitization seminar, where voter rights will be explained alongside voting procedure and consciousness, during such sessions.
Who Can Become A Benue E-Monitor
Benue E-Monitors are volunteers who have a belief and conviction in the possibility of a free and fair election in Nigeria. To become an E-Monitor, interested volunteer would be required to:

1. Be honestly interested in free and fair elections
2. Have access to the internet (camera and laptop or internet enabled phone)
3. Open atleast one social media account i.e. Facebook Twitter etc.
4. Be ready and able to send honest data.
