The Inspiration Behind ''Do The Right Thing'' By Cobhams And Bez.

Last year for the United Nations’ Anti Bribery and Corruption Day on December 9th 2014, Monamira a corporate branding and communications company was asked to develop a corporate movie featuring staff actors to help emphasis the organisation’s ‘Zero Tolerance To Bribery and Corruption’ policy. It was then that Naomi Moira Iwugo the Creative Director at Monamira wrote and produced a short movie called ‘DO THE RIGHT THING’.

The movie needed a sound track to accompany it and so Monamira contracted Tosin Martins to develop a sound track for the movie with Cobhams. Monamira had worked with Cobhams before and thought that he was the right guy for the job. Monamira, Martins and Cobhams had different views on the terms and conditions for producing the sound track and Monamira had to source an alternative artist to produce the sound track for the Corporate Movie ‘DO THE RIGHT THING’.

Yesterday Cobhams and Bez released the song ‘DO THE RIGHT THING’. Naomi Moira Iwugo also the CEO at Monamira issued this statement “Sometimes things happen and we can’t make sense of them. When we were unable conclude with Tosin Martins and Cobhams on the DO THE RIGHT THING song I was heartbroken.

Now I understand that it was because the song was bigger than all of us – if we used this song as our soundtrack for the movie the Nigerian public would not have the opportunity to listen to this beautiful song with the message needed by every Nigerian right now . We were all used as instruments to deliver a conscience song to this great nation at a desperate time when all the country needs is hope! I am so glad that our clients responsibility to tackle bribery and corruption in its organisation sparked off the creative process at Monamira which in turn inspired Tosin Martins to partner with Cobhams to develop this master piece with Bez. What can I say? The spirit of integrity is contagious if given a chance! Let’s all DO THE RIGHT THING!
