Chief Ortom Says Members Of His Cabinet Will Subscribe To A Code Of Conduct To Abhor Corruption.

Benue State Governor-elect, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, has disclosed that
members of his cabinet would subscribe to a code of conduct which will abhor corruption  as a mechanism shall be put in place to monitor them.
Speaking at the winding down of the Ortom/Abounu Governorship Campaign Organization at Royal Choice Inn in Makurdi, he explained that the dwindling financial fortunes of the state dictated the development.

Chief Dr Ortom said he would constitute  a lean cabinet to run his government, such a cabinet in consultation with major stakeholders who he said should nominate credible people with impeccable character and ability to deliver as he was committed to promoting excellence at the expense of sycophancy and mediocrity.
The former Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, stressed that his administration will also have zero tolerance for corruption and that corrupt public officials will be disgraced.

He also dispelled rumors making the rounds that new recruitments and replacements into the civil service were being secretly made by the current government at the state level by saying the Governor had given his word that no such thing had been done since his announcement as winner of the governorship election.
The Governor-elect also said he had also reached an agreement with the state governor that local government elections will not be held until the economy of the state improved.
Chief Dr Ortom stated that he believed that as a gentleman the governor would keep his word otherwise he will know what to do when he takes over.

The former Minister said he was also discussing with Dr Suswam about the need to put the appointment of first class and other chiefs on hold until the current salary and pension arrears were cleared but that they had not concluded the discussions.
He announced that a twenty-member transition committee with 10 members each from the outgoing and incoming administrations will soon be constituted as well as another one for the inauguration ceremony saying that at least one person from each of the local government areas will be represented on it.

Director General of the organization, Professor Steve Ugbah, commended members for their commitment and hard work which he said had enabled them to wage a successful gallant fight against the hitherto ruling party and someone he described as the Benue Goliath.
He said he was happy that the team had also broken the jinx of the stranglehold which the Peoples Democratic Party had on the Benue South senatorial district.www.fabmimi.com
