LASAA Begins Cleanup Of Political Posters, Banners !
Following the conclusion of the general elections, the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency has swung into action and commenced the removal of all political posters and banners across the state.
The Managing Director of the Agency, George Noah, confirmed the development. Noah noted: “Now that the elections are over, we have commenced immediate removal of all posters, banners, flags as well as other campaign materials across the state.” Speaking further, he said: “We have expanded our plan to ensure the clean-up exercise is completed in the next two months. “We are also ready to scale up our effort wherever the need arises. “From our findings, over one million five hundred posters will be cleaned in Lagos. “We are also removing 358 illegal billboards of various types deployed in the state with Alimosho and Eti Osa accounting for the highest.”
Also speaking on the issue, the Head of Enforcement of the Agency, Olamide Oyegoke, said: “We have mapped out areas requiring heavy clean up attention and we are already mobilizing our men and equipment to those areas.”
It will be recalled that in its effort to minimize the abuse of the environment before the just concluded elections, LASAA organized a town hall meeting with all political parties where it issued guidelines for the display of election campaign materials in Lagos State. LASAA was involved in an endless battle with various political parties in the days leading to the general election over indiscriminate use of election campaign materials. It is expected that the cleanup will return order to the visual environment in Lagos State
