ORTOM: Don't Use 100 Days For Reconciliation.-Kenn Shima Udele

I read with great shock in many online blogs today that the governor-elect of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, would be using his first 100days for reconciliation. This to me is bullshit. What kind of reconciliation? With who? And on what basis would Ortom put reconciliayion his top priority?

If what he said, "This came to me like a dream..." is a true reflection of his decision to use first 100 days for bazaar, then Ortom is a joker and has no single plan for this mandate.

Is Ortom saying that the budgetary allocation for three months will be used for reconciliation? I think he should come out clean on this but if he goes ahead with this, I will not be surprised but count my fingers and wait for 2019,

One would expect Ortom to know that the first 100days are crucial to the life of any government. Gov. Gabriel Torwua Suswam was characterised as the best governor during the first 100days. Shortly afterwards, his critics retracted to 'Suswam is changing', or 'Suswam used the first 100days to decieve us', etc.

The history of 100days in office began by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt on July 24, 1933. This became popular in Nigeria by this political dispensation, particularly during the first term of President Obasanjo.

If Ortom had told us he would be using his first three months to think about this mandate and plan for what he will do for Benue, I wouldn't have made this piece. Thinking and planning is crucial and most of us fail because we cannot think and plan.

The last election shouldn't be surprising to anyone because PVC and card readers solved some of the issues experienced before.. So it shouldn't be surprising to Ortom. Benue people overwhelmingly gave him this mandate and he should have no excuses. 100days shouldn't be wasted for flimsy issues. Benue is not not divided and therefore reconciliation is not needed.

It's not bullshit. Security has to be on ground. And it's not just reconciliation that he go about doing. Think before you write
