Sen. Jummai Al-Hassan Emerges As Nigeria’s First Elected Female Governor.

Senator Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan has made history by becoming the first Nigerian woman to be elected a State Governor.

Reports from Taraba State says Jumai, the first female governorship candidate from the entire northern part of the country, won yesterday’s election. She ran on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan was elected Senator for the Taraba North constituency of Taraba State in the April 2011 Federal elections. She ran on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform but later defected to APC.
