Following the order of contempt of court slammed on the Benue State Government over its disrespect to court order restraining it from carrying out the appointment of First Class Chiefs, the state government may have rescind on it decision as its counsel, Chief Edward Ashiekaa, yesterday Friday to pleaded for out of court settlement.

When the case came up yesterday at the State High Court 4, Chief Ashiekaa told the court that he had approached his clients, the outgoing governor Gabriel Suswam, the Tiv traditional council and 6 others who advised him to seek an out of court settlement.

While moving the oral application, Suswam’s counsel apologized tensely to the court, explaining that he was absent when the court issued an injunction restraining his client to stay action on the appointment of first class chiefs in the State.

“I want to move a motion asking the court to give us sometime to seek out of court settlement”, Ashiekaa pleaded.
The applicant, Hon. Benjamin Adanyi, Minority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly, had through his counsel, Prof. Tony Ijohor, SAN obained an order restraining the out going Governor, Gabriel Suswam and Eight others from carrying out the exercise of installing new first class chiefs in the state.
