Makurdi 330KVA Electricty Transmission Station Commissioned By V.P Namadi Sambo.

Nigeria Vice President Arc. Namandi Sambo today commissioned the 330 KVA Electricity Mega Transmission station at Apir in Makurdi the Benue state capital.
Performing the ceremony Vice President Sambo said the project would enhance steady supply of power to boost the economy and ease the poor and irregular power supply in the north central region.

He said the project which is constructed by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) of the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) was historic due to the fact that it was situated in Benue which is basically agrarian and had suffered so many years of electricity power supply.

“The commmissioning of the power substation in Makurdi is historic because the agrarian state has not been linked to national electricity grid since its creation and with the 33O/132/33KV power station now in the state it will ease the poor and irregular power supply in the north central region,” he noted.

According to Sambo, the current electricity supply as it stands now in the country was at 5500 mega watts and was the best ever generated in the history of the country.

He said the federal government was committed to providing a robust electricity supply in the country and that the project would enhance steady supply of power to boost the economy.

He said a 21.1 gas power pipeline has been completed to ensure the distribution of electricity and that several power transmission projects located nationwide have been already completed with some commissioned.

In a remark earlier, Benue state Governor Gabriel Suswam lamented that Benue was the only state that was not linked to 33KVA power supply since its creation in 1976.

Suswam said the establishment of the project in the agrarian state will boost social and economic activities and also increase rapid industrial development adding “it will ensure stable power supply in the rural and urban communities of the state.”

“The event marks the begining of a new era for people of the state who had suffered supply of electric from Enugu which has been irregular and too low to power even the minor electric appliance,” he noted.

While calling on the people to utilised the project to enrich their lives he charged them to protect it for the use of the generation unborn.
