Suswam Hands Over N17.4 Billion Debt To Samuel Ortom.

Outgoing Governor of Benue State, Dr Gabriel Suswam, today handed over to the incoming Governor, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, in his office in Government House, Makurdi after a tour of the new Governor's Lodge.

In his handover speech he disclosed a debt profile of over N17. 4 billion comprising bonds and three months salary he claimed to be owing.
But he did not disclose how much was being owed pensioners, contractors, and others.
He said he was only a phone call away and so could be contacted if the need arose.
Dr Suswam said he had already packed out of Government House and indicated that his Deputy, Chief Steve Lawani might represent him at the inauguration tomorrow.
Chief Dr Ortom received the notes with appreciation to God for a successful handover and to Governor Suswam for his cooperation.
Both the outgoing Governor and the incoming one were silent on contentious last minute actions of Dr Suswam
