From An FMBlog Follower In San Francisco " I'm honored to be a father"-Darian Eastman.

Dear atedze,

My daughter, Samariah, is about to turn 14. It’s an honor to be her father, and it’s a lot of fun. But fourteen is such a vulnerable age. It’s the age at which many of the young women I work with are first sexually exploited. Most of these young ladies have never had a strong male role model in their life. And the men they’ve spent time with—solicitors and pimps—have destroyed their ability to trust.

I remember the first time Ciara, a young woman in the program, casually called me ‘Poppa Darian.’ It happened within my first week at Not For Sale and it reminded me of what a privilege it is to work with these ladies every day. Helping them perfect their cover letters, chatting about life, talking about where they are and who they’re going to become—I love every minute of it.

These bright young women have come so far in such a short time. It’s a constant reminder of how much one person, one man, one father can impact someone’s life. This Father’s Day, you can be that person to young women like Ciara. By taking part in the Not For Sale Throwdown and working free for a day so that others can be free for a lifetime, you can also turn the lives of young people around.

Please show these young ladies that you care. We’re doing real work here, but we just can’t do it without you.

Happy Father’s Day,

Darian Eastman
