Our Resolve To Fight Curruption; A Matter Of Life And Death -Takema
Secretary to the State Government Barr. Targema Takema has declared that the resolution of the new administration in Benue State led by Chief Dr. Samuel Ortom to nip corruption in the bud will be treated with all commitment and sincerity even if it meant laying their lives to ensure that Benue's wealth returns to the common wealth.
The SSG who made this declaration last Sunday in Gboko at the occasion of the Award of Honour and reception organized for him by Ipav Elites Youth Forum also stated that all players within the government must be ready to abide by the new order as those who toil with public wealth will face the worst show where they will not only be relieved of their responsibilities but be made to face prosecution.
He thanked God for allowing him the opportunity to see the Honour by the youth and promised never to disappoint them but make conscious efforts to change their situations.
Earlier in an address, president of the group Comr. Simeon Terkimbi Demenongu informed the gathering that they had decided to honour Barr. Takema in respect of his sincere commitment to the people's agenda. He congratulated the SSG on his appointment which he said was well deserved and called on him not to forget his root, the Ipav people who he said are backward in terms of development and promised to sustain prayers for God to give the new SSG wisdom and strength to deliver on his new assignment.
Also speaking at the occasion, former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Benue State Barr. Alex Adum commended the youth for their orderly conduct and for choosing to honour one of their own in such a colorful style. He appreciated the youth's resolve not to indulge in social vices even in the face of hardships occasioned by high level unemployment, a gesture he said is worthy of emulation by youth all over the state and urged them to sustain their unity and purposefulness for the good of their people.
The youth honored Barr. Takema with an award of ' The Bridge and Pillar of Hope for the Youth'
