Plateau Lawmakers Exchange Blows During Heated Session !

The sitting of the Plateau state House of Assembly was on Thursday disrupted when lawmakers physically attacked each other before the commencement of the session.
Another incident of a royal rumble involving lawmakers has occurred in Plateau state. The awry event took place on Thursday, 23rd of July, 2015 during a sitting.

According to Premium Times, the sitting of the Plateau state House of Assembly was put in disarray when lawmakers physically assaulted each other prior to the beginning of the house proceeding.
It was reported that the Journalists covering events in the State House were sent out before the fight kicked off.

A reliable source has traced the fracas to the contents of an “order paper”.

According to the source, the Speaker, Peter Azi, who represents Jos North West, had insisted that the first item on the “order paper” should be the reading of a letter from the governor, Simon Lalong, nominating transition committee chairmen for local government councils.

A counter-argument in response to this led to a rough fight during which various chairs of the chamber were dismantled by agitated lawmakers. It took the intervention of the security personnel attached to the house to separate them and maintain peace.

Another source said members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had walked out when the speaker, Mr. Azi, attempted to read the letter from the governor.

All the lawmakers refused to make press statements of the incident to the journalists. On this note, the cause of the brawl couldn't be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
