Benue State government yesterday commenced the sale and distribution of assorted brands of fertiliser to boost food production in the agrarian state.
It warned that the distribution process should not be hijacked and the inputs diverted by politicians, saying that the official price for the sale of the inputs should not be hiked by dealers.

The state government also distributed knapsack sprayers and assorted brands of herbicide and insecticide to enhance farming.
The commissioner for agriculture, Mr. James Anbua, explained that the flag-off of the fertiliser products is to ensure food security and that several trucks of the inputs were procured for sale and distribution to farmers.
Governor Samuel Ortom, who performed the ceremony at the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources in Makurdi, stated that though the distribution is coming late, the administration has given priority attention to sustained improvement of the agricultural sector.
He announced the government approved price of N4,000 per bag and warned that any government official involved in the diversion of the products will be sanctioned.
