 After  several fire out breaks at  Market Modern Market ,the affected areas have now become a refuse dump site for traders.These fire incidents at the market occurred at different times ,the most ragging incident was in 2005 when fire started at about 6.30 pm on a Monday and  raged on till the following morning despite efforts by the State's Fire Services Department to put it out.
We gathered that over 50 stalls at the central part of the market were reduced to rubbles while goods worth over N30 billion were destroyed.This area that was burnt has been converted to a refuse dump area,there are piles and piles of refuse in this market,with unre-constructed shops still existing.See more pictures.
