300 Busia Students To Get Scholarships In Benue University, Nigeria.


Three hundred students from Busia County will be offered scholarships to study at the Centre for Food Technology and Research at Benue University , Makurdi in Nigeria.
A team from Benue University led by Director of Academic Planning, Dr Simon Ubwa made the disclosure on Monday when they paid a courtesy call on Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong in his office. 


Dr Ubwa said the courses offer includes Food and Science Technology, Post-Harvest Physiology of Crops, Post Harvest Management, Post Harvest Engineering and Technology, Biostatistics programme, Extension and Rural Sociology, Analytical Chemistry and Food Chemistry. Others are Fish processing and preservation technology, Food packaging and marketing Food processing technology, Analytical and instrumental chemistry, Consumer science food and nutrition, Food preservation and Food science, safety and health. Dr Ubwa said the courses will start in October, 2015 and will include post graduate, masters and a few certificate courses, adding that there are no undergraduate courses for international students. 

The programme is funded by the World Bank through Benue State University which is among 18 centres of Excellence in Africa. The programme also entails exchange of staff and students in control of post harvest losses, research grants and opportunity to participate in stakeholders workshops courtesy of the
world bank funding. Ojaamong thanked Benue State University for honouring Busia with a
good number of Busia students to study in Nigeria saying their trip to Benue State had yielded fruits. The Governor said his government was looking forward cordial relations with Nigeria in many fields which will be beneficial to the people of Busia.Read more HERE
