Benue People Are In For It.''THE IMPUNITY OF TERWASE AKWASA a.k.a 'GANA'.

High points of the amnesty programme declared by the state government was the surrendering of a renowned, dare devil thug and most wanted criminal popularly known as 'Gana'.Since then we hope that the general insecurity and unwanted killings in that area will stop.

Gana has been declared wanted by almost all the security agencies in this country for atroticities he has committed. The army and other security agencies are looking for him to arrest and prosecute him.

Gana drives a white hilux van with men of the civil defense guarding him in a truck. It is alleged that before Gana takes off a gun shot goes into the air. Why this happens is still a mystery.

Recently, the DVC of BSU brushed Gana's hilux. An eye witness who refused to mention his name for fear said that Gana threw the key at the DVC saying he wants a brand new car, that he was too big to drive a refurbished vehicle.

Gana must be told to appreciate the amnesty granted him after committing several attrocities. He must be civil in dealing or relating with the people. He must understand that this kind of opportunities come once in a life time.

While I was pondering and seeking to know more about this Incidence with the DVC I stumbled over this write up below by REUBEN ACKA.

Some one called me yesterday night over this news item. I called my friend,Denen,The SSA,Special Security to the governor. He briefed me. Denen is the anchor man on Armnesty and special Security concerning these kind of issues. He is well know in security circles and these bad boys.

He told me and I believe him that this matter was reported to him. He went to the DVC and met him. The DVC said he was at fault and offered to repair the vehicle, which was not seriously damaged anyway. That has been done and the vehicle will be returned to Ghana today in Gbishe, his home,in K/Ala LGC. SSA,Denen ordered him to return back immediately. He did.

Let me also take this opportunity to address some salient issues raised by some here. Ghana has embraced completely the armnesty program of Gov Ortom. Ghana has been in the gangland for decades. It will take sometimes for him and others like him to be rehabilitated into the society. The Ortom government is in the process of getting experts in this area to begin to work on this.

You will recall that the armnesty program was extended by one month on the instant of Ghana who pleaded with the gov to give him time to go to other council areas to persuade his boys or associates to embrace the Ortom armnesty. It's on this basis that govt made available one Hilux van for him to undertake this.

According to the SSA Denen,Ghana was assigned one Hilux van and one plain clothes security man to keep tab over him in his vicinity. I believe so that he won't relapse into his old ways. Again anytime Ghana is supposed to move outside his Gbishe residence which for years he never visited but was in one forest or another,he is expected to call SSA Denen who will in turn contact the DPO of the area where he is visiting to enhance the armnesty work to provide security. We must note that Ghana and the boys he pledged to bring aboard the armnesty are like animals. They must be tamed. That is why security people follow him everywhere he takes permission to go and report back through already established channels.

The DPO of K/Ala LGC has immediate and direct responsibility to ensure strict compliance of these and many other terms of the Armnesty deal.
SSA Denen had in fact defused this tension by ordering Ghana to go back yesterday. Security reported he arrived Gbishe last night. The DVC has accepted responsibility and already repaired the vehicle which is government one, anyway. DVC has no fear that anything will happen to him. In fact, every criminal element,or those that deal with such, including the security agencies in the state have been clearly Instructed by Gov Ortom, not to let anybody, no matter how close that person may be to him, to get away with any crime, or likely hood of committing a crime. We know that before, such boys, when arrested on any criminal charges, had calls from above to release them. That won't and can't happen now. Ghana was schooled in this thinking and in fact he said he did not do anything harsh to the DVC.

In conclusion, may I inform us that, several people from the areas where these people were operating, have commended the governor, over this program, and that, there has been neither any armed robbery, nor kidnapping nor, disruption of markets as it used to be. We hope, this will continue, especially in Sankera axis where it used to be routine to hang people on the cross, kidnap and kill, disrupt markets and rob, especially in Ukum.

The leadership in Ukum was powerless and had no clue on what to do thereby allowing this to fester.
May I also appeal to us to desist, or suppress our constant urge,to celebrate and exergerate minor incidents in such gleeful negativity, rather than asking questions to determine the veracity, and extent of such occurrences. Let's also not take such in isolation with our immediate past. We must not expect Ghana and or those of his ilk to start behaving normally,so soon after been rescued from the jaws of satan. It will take time. And this time we must note and pray that he is permanently healed. He has done so much havoc,he has also suffered a lot?

Governor Ortom has a system in place to coordinate all these occurrences. So there is no new spaco in town. That era is gone for good. There is change in the air everywhere you go. Night life is gradually returning to Benue towns. We must know why this is so not forgetting how it was yesterday.
